Efficient Purification Technology of Low-Grade Phosphate Rock

Phosphate ore is an essential strategic mineral for chemical industry, agricultural fertilizer and new energy materials. Natural phosphate rock is often associated with quartz, clay, dolomite and other impurities, resulting in low raw ore grade and high impurity content. Professional beneficiation and purification are required to reduce harmful components and meet industrial production standards.

The mainstream phosphate beneficiation process includes washing desliming, gravity separation and flotation purification. Washing and desliming is the primary pretreatment procedure. A large amount of viscous clay and fine mud attached to phosphate ore will seriously affect subsequent sorting accuracy. Through scrubbing and hydraulic classification, surface dirt and fine impurities are removed to improve ore purity and create stable flotation conditions.

For weathered phosphate ore with large density difference, gravity separation equipment is used to remove light gangue minerals and realize preliminary enrichment. For fine-grained refractory phosphate ore with complex symbiosis, flotation technology is the core sorting method. By adjusting pulp pH value and adding special collectors and inhibitors, phosphate minerals are selectively floated upward, while silicate and carbonate gangue are effectively suppressed and separated.

Modern phosphate processing plants adopt reverse flotation and double flotation combined technology, which can efficiently remove magnesium, calcium and silicon impurities. After concentration, dehydration and drying, high-grade phosphate concentrate is obtained. This mature and stable process significantly improves resource utilization rate and is widely applied in global phosphate rock development projects.
