Chrome ore is an important strategic mineral widely used in stainless steel, alloy materials, refractory materials and chemical industries. Natural chrome ore is mostly symbiotic with gangue minerals such as serpentine, olivine and quartz, with uneven particle size and low raw ore grade. Due to the high density and weak magnetic characteristics of chrome ore, professional beneficiation processes and equipment configuration are required to improve concentrate grade and resource utilization efficiency.
Chrome ore beneficiation mainly relies on gravity separation and magnetic separation combined process, which is the most mature and efficient technical route at present. The whole process includes crushing and screening, washing desliming, gravity roughing, magnetic separation cleaning and concentrate dewatering. Different from other minerals, chrome ore is sensitive to fine mud, so desliming treatment is the key to improving beneficiation indicators.
In the pre-processing stage, bulk chrome ore is crushed and screened to remove oversized stones and impurities. After washing and desliming, the interference of fine mud on subsequent separation is eliminated. Coarse and medium-grained chrome ore is effectively recovered through gravity separation equipment such as jigs and shaking tables. Gravity separation discards a large amount of waste rock at low cost and greatly improves the grade of rough concentrate.
For fine-grained chrome ore and mixed impurities, high-gradient magnetic separation equipment is used for deep purification. Magnetic separators effectively separate weak magnetic chrome minerals from non-magnetic gangue, further improving the grade and purity of chrome concentrate. After multiple stages of sorting and concentration dehydration, the final high-quality chrome concentrate meets industrial smelting standards. This combined gravity-magnetic separation process features simple operation, low reagent consumption, stable indicators and environmental protection, becoming the mainstream solution for global chrome ore processing.
Most traditional copper processing plants have been operating for many years, featuring outdated process layouts, aging equipment, low automation, unstable beneficiation indicators, high energy consumption and serious resource waste.
With the rapid development of modern mining technology, intelligent automatic beneficiation systems have gradually replaced traditional manual operation modes. There are essential differences in production stability, operating cost, recovery rate and management efficiency between the two modes, which directly determine the economic benefits and development level of the concentrator.
